Aztec Mayan Tablet of Slaves fragment wall Sculpture plaque 13" www.Neo-Mfg.com Home decor
Size 13" Tall
Tablet of the slaves was found in palenque.
Within the east gallery of the upper story of Structure J1.
The tablet of the slaves is located in Temple 19.
The Tablet depicts Ahkal Mo Nahb’ III sitting above a couple of lower class/prisoners with two people to his sides.
He is being presented with a “drum major crown” and a “flint and shield”.
The two subjects at Ahkal Mo’ Nahb III’s side are argued to be his mother to the right of the tablet and either his father Tiwol Chan Mat or Chak Zutsz’ to the left image.
Chak Zutsz’ has been depicted and described to be a right hand of K’inich Ahkal Mo’ Nahb III and an important figure, possibly a war captain (Robertson, 2005). K’inich Ahkal Mo’ Nahb III is mimicking the gestures of other important rulers.
The kings on the Palace Tablet and the Oval Palace Tablet is what K’inich Ahkal Mo’ Nahb III is trying to reenact, each ruler is receiving a royal headdress from a figure. Their hair is pulled back, wears no sandals and is simply clothed without any fancy decoration.
