On February 21, 1978 the electric company, Luz y Fuerza del Centro, was digging six and a half feet down. They suddenly came upon a disc-shaped, pink andesite monolith that was nearly ten feet in diameter and 12 inches thick and weighed more than eight tons.
It was Coyolxauhqui. And not only did they find her but also the temple where she, Tláloc and Huitzilopochtli were worshiped: a pyramid that would be some 150 feet high.
